Labradorite: This is a variety of Feldspar known as Plagioclase Feldspar. Labradorite exhibits “labradorenscence” which means the ability to reflect prismatic colors. The most important deposits are found in Canada, Finland, and Madagascar. This is top-quality specimen comes from the Tulear Province in Madagascar, producer of some of the finest and brightest material available radiating the deepest colors. The bright blue radiance of this piece can be likened to the radiant “electric blue” color surrounding the superstructure and masts of sailing ships at sea. Specific atmospheric conditions can result in this phenomenon. Some sailors considered it to be a good omen.
