Ammonite: This outstanding ammonite specimen from Madagascar dates back to the Jurassic period about 100 million years ago. Some of its earlier cousins date 400 million yeas in the past. This unusual fossil displays nicely agatized shell segments as well as sparkling crystal lined geode cavities. The soft warm colors range from green, gold and amber, a result of mineral coloration. This excellent specimen from Madagascar stands above many other examples of this ancient cephalopod.
